They gave us The Punisher trailer and y’all were satisfied. Y’all thought that was good eatin’ right there. Out here getting full, thinking that’s all you needed in life, like that was enough to get you to binge this second season of Daredevil. Fuck that, we can’t revive Daredevil from it’s previous incarnation without bringing back one character that’s dumb important — one assassin that’s a an equal opportunity merker, straight cold-blooded feminist, fam. Elektra Natchios is back from Hollywood and ready to get fucking gutter!

ARGHHHHH, she’s back, baby! We won’t talk about the Reindeer Games version of Elektra or 13 Going on 30‘s iteration of Elektra… no, no, no. This is the revival right here. For those of y’all not in the know, Elektra is a straight up assassin for hire. A mercenary, if you will. I won’t get into the path that led her that way, but just know she and Matt met back in their college days, and they were in love and everything changed the day the character development attacked. Elektra will merk you, no questions asked. It’s going to be interesting to see the chemistry and history between these two.
Elektra and Punisher are no strangers to one another in Marvel, either. How that will play on screen is up to anyone. Elektra is very similar to the Punisher, but her mercenary background gives her a differt modus operandi entirely, meaning…

Elektra’s presence, more importantly, means that major players are coming — the first of which being revealed is The Hand. Stick alluded to them back in season one, he’s been fighting them for the longest. This is a war Elektra is also apart of. We’re also seeing the Yakuza playing a role this season, which means even more is going to be taken from Brian Michael Bendis’ and Alex Malev’s run on Daredevil. If it’s anything like the events of the book, the whole block is finna be lit.
On every comic I review, Elektra is not a character to be taken lightly. She is cunning, swift, and always has a scope on the big picture. Elodie Young most definitely looks the part so far, and if her mastery of the character is even close to what we’ve seen in the trailer, we are going to have a grand time, folks. Once again, to all those naysayers still hung up on the 2003 Reindeer Games portrayal of Daredevil…
