‘Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors’ Got Now, They Don’t Care Who Got Next

The home of The Avengers is stepping up it’s animation game in 2018 with the release of Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. This brand new project includes 6 digital four-minute shorts followed by a full-length feature film. They’re basically hitting us with a Marvel EP leading up to a whole album, and we’re here for all of it. This brand new story focuses on a colorful group of young heroes who gotta learn to squad up to take the villains down, and BNP’s got the lowdown on all of em’.

Before the gang comes together, the six shorts will focus on the journey of Ghost Spider, formerly known as Spider-Gwen. The change makes sense, how you gonna have a hero moniker that’s half your government name? Gwen’s gotta balance being a hero and and staying three steps ahead of her police captain pops. Did we mention he hates vigilantes?

Gwen- Um Ghost Spider will have a bunch of powerful friends to watch her back, including Daisy Johnson aka Quake, a leading S.H.I.E.L.D agent whose abilities rock the house – and every house on the block! Best part? She’s voiced by Chloe Bennet, who also plays her in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Hands down, sis got the magnitude.

Keep the roster coming

Up next, we got Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey giving his voice to Dante Pertuz, aka Inferno. As his name suggests, he can create, shoot and spit hot fire (stay mad Dylan). He’s more of the brooding type, so hopefully he can find some tall ledges to take a knee on as he tries to get a grip on his powers.

He’s not the only loner of the group. America Chavez makes her animated debut as a new hero with an impressive power set. Super strength, speed, durability, and flight make her a serious problem in these super streets. Her dark past does make it harder for her to accept having a leader, so we’ll have to wait and see if she’ll work with the team or keep flying solo.

This new film will also feature Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel stretching her limbs as a fresh new Inhuman. This girl has the power to extend her head, shoulders, knees and toes to launch the hands at all these foes. This young Marvel stans hard for costumed crimefighters, especially her mentor, Captain Marvel. She’s also happens to be Muslim-American, so she’s had experience fighting injustice even before she got her powers. Kamala’s got the range, and not just because she’s got arms that could wipe the dirt off a moving JetBlue plane.

Oh, Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors ain’t done yet

Also joining the team is Ms. Marvel’s bestie Doreen Green, aka Squirrel Girl. She’s got mad computer skills, and she runs and jumps just like one of the many squirrels she shares an empathic bond with. She’s got a great sense of humor, but her powers are no joke. Don’t act like you wouldn’t lose it if you saw a swarm of squirrels running straight at you.

This next hero we bout to bring to the stage has some real legends backing him, and he’s out to prove himself. Patriot, aka Rayshaun Lucas is a young natural born leader ready to put that work in with his enhanced strength, speed, stamina and durability. He’s trying his best to put respeck on Cap A’s name, and joining this super team just might help him do that. And can we talk about a black boy with a super black name like “Rayshaun” rocking the red, white and blue? He too represents America, just like the blond haired, blue eyed man before him.

And what’s a young team without a seasoned veteran? Grey’s Anatomy alum Kim Raver plays Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. Danvers’ discipline from being in the Air Force is just what these kids need to straighten their act up. With superhuman strength, flight, and the ability to absorb energy and shoot it back at her enemies, she’s got the skills to lead this young team into battle.

You always gotta pay close attention to the wild cards. Victor Kohl, aka Exile is a young Inhuman trying to find his way to the top by any means necessary. He can use Darkforce energy to make weapons and teleport, so watch out. He will go Nightcrawler in the Oval Office for that bag.

But where them villains at?

Every hero movie needs a baddie, and Hala is out to gain power for the Kree Empire and put the heater to every hero that gets in her way. “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and Mulan star Ming-Na Wen voices this cold-hearted galaxy snatcher. The crew’s gonna have to level up to go toe to toe with her.

This new team of diverse heroes is exactly what the future of Marvel should look like. All of these characters got something hot and steamy to bring to the table, and we can’t wait to watch them link up in 2018.

You better lace up, cuz the Secret Warriors are coming to dominate.
