Halo, is like a thing, my people. It’s been a big thing for quite a while, but ever since Bungie has moved on to make the most brilliantly misunderstood, yet still flawed game of the year for Activision, Microsoft has kept it in house and kept the Halo train running. The last released game for the franchise was 343’s Halo 4 back in November, 2012, which ended up setting sales records and racking up accolades. The next scheduled game isn’t till late 2015 (Halo 5: Guardians), but the amount of Halo content between now and then will be hitting the target like a well tracked Needler combustion. The Master Chief Collection will drop next month on the XBOX One, which will be all the games featuring its most famous protagonist (Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4, but not Halo: ODST or Halo: Reach). Not only are we getting all those classic campaigns and re-imagined multiplayer maps in 1080p / 60 FPS glory, but it also includes a code for the full run of the Halo Nightfall live action series. You’ll be able to access Halo: Nightfall on the Halo Channel on XBOX Live wihen it launches (I told you that Halo is a THING), but first dibs will be included with the Master Chief Collection.

I’ve wrote before about the Ridley Scott produced feature, starring Spartan Commander Locke in what will be a prequel to Halo 5 and the trailer certainly has the production value befitting his name. I’ll let you all watch the trailer to determine what your enthusiasm may be, either as a Halo fan or a Sci-Fi action fan, but I am happy with the authenticity of the weapons and armor being portrayed in the trailer, especially that iconic assault rifle design. I mean, I already had the Master Chief Collection pre-ordered (couldn’t show my face in my hood (read: Halo ring-world) if I didn’t), but I’m looking forward to this, because, ya know…more Halo.
