The weekend of November 19th and 20th saw the annual New Jersey Comic Expo in Edison, NJ. The event, which offered panels on Saturday and general milling around and awesomeness on Sunday, was exactly what I wanted it to be.

I went with my BNP partner-in-crime Omar. We both went to NYCC just over a month ago, so this was a welcome change of pace. NYCC is great, but it can be overwhelming and crowded and you literally have to rub your entire body against a stranger’s body just to move one inch closer to the t-shirt you’re trying to buy. The NJCE was well attended, but there was breathing room. This meant that not only did I not accidentally get to know any strangers better than I wanted to, but several of the vendors had the time to talk to us.

We spent a fair amount of time at the Pendragon Cosutmes booth ‘oohing’ and ‘aahhhing’ over the craftmanship of their messenger/computer bags and custom made dresses (in that Michonne print, y’all!). messenger-bag When we were looking for art (and you know we were looking for art), we got to pour over artwork by Ali Solomon at his booth.

Between those conversations, the relaxed atmosphere, and the merch, I’m know I’ll be back next year.
