When I tell you I feel like Natasha Romanova is riding round with the top down playing the instrumental to Kendrick Lamar’s back seat freestyle while shouting, “All my life I wanted a solo series up to measure, respect my fandom or get red in your ledger.” This series feels like the movie we should have gotten with Black Widow after Captain America II: The Winter Soldier. Samnee and Waid have really done all the right measures to make this feel like you are watching Mission Impossible meets Jason Bourne meets Luther. This is peak espionage at its muhfucking finest right here. Natasha is being hounded by S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents yet again while trying to make contact with the Weeping Lion’s courier in order to drop off the top secretest of top secret files she procured. This is where Natasha shines as we see everything go awry and learn yet again just how much better than excellent Natasha is at this spy shit. Samnee has her always three steps ahead of everyone else and still trying to do the right thing in a world where lying, cheating, and stealing (R.I.P. Eddie Guerro) is what it takes to flourish in the field.
This creative team has Natasha really, really out in these spy streets, man. I legit can’t name a series that’s tackled this genre as well as Waid and Samnee have with Black Widow. We got a lot more of the Weeping Lion through his small actions. We also get Na…
