With the recent announcement of Fox’s Gotham casting Nicholas D’Agosto as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, the jokes about the show becoming too full of rogues to be taken seriously appear to actually be becoming true. Me me me! I appeared in a Batman comic 30 years ago probably! Poison Ivy? Sure. Riddler? Check. Penguin? Don’t call him that! Catwoman? Couldn’t escape her awkward steampunk shenanigans if we tried. And on and on and on. Which makes me wonder: why sit back waiting for Gotham to exceed capacity when the producers so clearly want to jam pack this show with more character appearances than a middle school au fanfiction? In light of this fact here, in no particular order, are my top 5 characters I think should be added to the Gotham cast while they’re at it (and probably will be at the rate we’re going). 1) Zatanna Zatara Now I know what you’re thinking: “Magic? How could you have magic in this ultra-realistic, gritty universe governed by logic?” And to that I say, “Pish posh!” Zatanna and Bruce have more of a childhood connection than he and Selina do, canonically speaking. Clearly what this show needs is an unexpected visit from the supernatural to make our favorite brooding little boy even more of a lovable masochist than he already is! Who doesn’t love a good dash of the dark arts in their police drama? 2) Thomas Elliot/Hush Guns!
