BNP At Home Recommends: ‘Infinity’ (2013)

Writer: Jonathan Hickman / Artists: Jim Cheung, Jerome Opeña, Dustin Weaver / Marvel Comics

While you could simply ready Jonathan Hickman’s Infinity issues #1-6 and have a grand ol time doing so, there’s no doubt in any comic book fans mind that the Avengers (#1-23) and New Avengers (#1-12) tie-in books are 100% necessary to get a complete picture of what is going on. This wild story gives new perspective on Avengers: Infinity Wars and Endgame.

After Steve Rogers declared them public enemy #1, the smartest minds in the world (Stark, Richards, T’Challa, and others) come together to play God in secret. Kings contemplate losing their kingdoms. The Avengers roster becomes the stuff of legend. The story is big, expertly written, and contains ramifications that are felt throughout the universe and beyond. As Infinity plays out, you begin to understand Hickman’s level of planning and execution. By the end you’ll be in awe of the Mad Titan and his Black Order. Love Thanos or hate him, you should appreciate a boss-level villain of his magnitude. Infinity forces you to revel in his devilish glory that’s on display for everyone to see.
