‘Breaking In’: Gabrielle Union vs Billy Burke is the Face-Off I Never Knew I Needed

The last thing you want is a Mom hunting you down
  • When I clicked on the trailer for Breaking In, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. It seemed like your run-of-the-mill, house invasion thriller. But as soon as I saw Gabrielle Union staring down one of the jackasses who broke into her house, I knew that shit just got turned up to 10000000. I am FIRED UP FOR THIS MOVIE and you should be too!

Gabrielle Union stars as a mother of two who is spending the weekend with her kids to settle her recently-departed father’s estate. Of course, this giant house is located far away from other people, somewhere in Malibu. Union’s character seems interested in trying to unravel the mystery of what her father was up to prior to his death. While she’s wandering the grounds around dusk, her kids are held hostage and she is attacked. She fends off her attacker to come face to face with the big baddie of the film, Bella Swan’s dad, Billy Burke. This seemingly cold-hearted thief and burglar threatens her family, and is searching for something inside the house (presumably the reason Union’s father had such an intense security system).

Instead of cowering to Burke’s character, we see this badass mother strategically cut through the invaders to try and save her children. Will she succeed? Will it be a happy ending? Will it come down to a full-on fight between her and Billy? WHO KNOWS. I don’t care what anyone says, this movie looks super hardcore, exciting, and fast-paced. That’s the main bits I need for a thriller flick. An added bonus is that I get to see Gabrielle Union stab someone with a broken wine glass. I DON’T KNOW WHY, BUT THAT’S AWESOME.
