A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is being buried and we got Natasha on lookout protecting Maria Hill and Agent Elder who are upset having lost an agent. We get the gist of how Elder thinks and feels about Natasha as he calls her Hill’s freelance pet. Hill assures him that Natasha is under control and, should she go rogue, she will be handled. The beauty of this issue is that while the agents are holding the conversation, we see Natasha being the best Black Widow to ever kill it. There are special Black-Ops enemies surrounding the funeral and she picks them each off quietly. One by freaking one Natasha is murdering these cats something fierce. I don’t know if we’ve ever seen her more in her element. No captions. No funny little quips to herself. Samnee draws her in stealth beautifully and incredibly graceful when she launches an attack. The way the dialogue moves is incredible but Natasha moves along with the conversation with such versatility that we are reminded why she is the fucking Bret “The Hitman” Hart of the spy game. These agents also come off as fucking ingrates, man. Natasha out here having to hear them drag her while saving their asses. This story takes place one week before the events of the last issue, and we discover that those special ops members weren’t there to take out Hill. They wanted Natasha, an…
