Deadpool #250 (aka #45) Review

writers: Brian Posehn & Gerry Duggan / artist: Mike Hawthorne / Marvel Comics I’ve been reading Deadpool as a guilty pleasure for some time. I haven’t liked the way this run started but they have come full swing in the execution of Wade Wilson. We’ve seen new elements to his personality and we’ve seen him trying to change for the better, especially for his daughter. This issue deals with his family being under attack and Deadpool not reacting the way you would think. We get to see the side of Wade this time that shows how good of a strategist, thief and calculated killer he is.

This issue is Deadpool doing what he does best, which is getting his hands dirty. He may be the wise-cracking jokster of Marvel but he is never, eeeever just “the fool” everyone thinks he is, no matter how hard he may play that role. The writers really did well to give him depth this issue and bring the reader an understanding to what make Wade tick at the heart of his actions. We see great artwork depicting all the ass kickings he has been handing out this issue. It’s not over the top gory but it is brutal none the less. The end feels a bit jumbled with the way the incursion was incorporated, which is the only complaint I could see being had. However, it’s a fitting end with what Wade Wilson has been striving for in his selflessness….
