A First Look at ‘Pandora’s Legacy’: A Tantalizing Tale About Summer Vacations Gone Awry

I love mythology. It was an instrumental part of my middle school experience. The units on Greco-Roman mythology actively made me a better student. The larger the life story of gods and goddesses working with and against various heroes and monsters were very informative of my youth. Gaining an understanding of mythology help me understand the mechanics of storytelling, and it has not-so-subtlety influenced a lot of my reading preferences. As such when I heard that BOOM! Studios announced Pandora’s Legacy as the closer to their KaBOOM! Summer Blast (a spotlight on the upcoming comics coming later this year), I was intrigued by the premise and the absolutely beautifully stunning cover. I’m a sucker for a good mythological romp set in modern times. I’m a sucker for coming-for-age stories where the kids discover an ancient artifact that is indicative of a supernatural lineage and must come to terms with their divine inheritance and set right what was set wrong long before the present. There are a lot of stories that fit this bill, but there’s something particularly chaotic about Pandora’s Legacy that makes it much more enticing.

Based on a successful Kickstarter campaign that acted as a sort of field guide on various mythological monsters, Pandora’s Legacy lets the monsters out of the metaphorical and literal box into a brand-new playground.
