Hit-Girl Vol. 2 #2 Review

Writer: Mark Millar / Artist: Ricardo Lopez Ortiz / Image Comics Hit-Girl is just a kind-hearted, squirrely haired, little girl who wants to do right in this cold world. Thank Bast, her idea of doing right is to rob Russian arms dealers for Wakandan-style guns and tech gadgets that would make Shuri fawn. With all this hardware she and Mano can take out the rivals and traitors in the streets. Every 3 turns of a page, I look up to the sky with a single tear streaming down my face, prayer hands steady, and give the nod to Ricardo Lopez Ortiz. He brings imaginative illustration and a lively kinetic feel to every panel.

Issue #2 is so full of vengeful bloodbaths and gore that Quentin Tarantino is expected to direct the Hit-Girl movie that I just created a rumor for. What can I say? The world’s deadliest tween assassin rolling round Colombia with the most infamous mercenary on the planet, microwaving the innards of gangsters needs to be brought to life. Sounds right up his alley. Every single page of this issue is on another level of murderous hype and execution. Hit-Girl in a 90s style, scrolling video game through the Animal Kingdom safari mansion was insane. Every new device and yopper that she whips out to deliver her next fade is out of this world innovative. Wanted style guns on 007 steroids?! Flesh-eating grenades!! Like, what?
