Sex Criminals #18 Review

Writer: Matt Fraction / Artist: Chip Zdarsky / Image Comics Maaaaaaan listen, this issue deals with introducing something new into the bedroom. We’re seeing the off season that took place post-Kegel Face fucking everyone over (not in the good way). Jon has been getting Suzie a gift (wasn’t sure exactly what it was though — an outfit, or outfit with a sex toy attached?) and a talk is required when them gifts start to pile up, which lets us know Jon is into or on some shit that’s got him keeping something close to the chest. We’re still unsure about the red room he keeps finding himself in with Kegel Face in his dreams.

My favorite part of this issue dealt with these other characters getting there shit together. Rob is finally straight up with Rachel about his insecurities and Fraction even has ’em talk on a sexual stereotype of Black men with perfect efficiency (shout out to getting that shit right). We join Doctor Kincaid, who is forced to frequent a porn convention as Kegel Face went and fucked with her money having gotten her fired from her teaching job. There is great social commentary on the pain and prep women do for beauty standards and the boundless levels of trash men keep taking to new heights. The best part though is when we see the good doctor’s actions when she is crushing on someone. The “who” is a great surprise and I will fucking ship it to the ends of the earth.
