The narrative and dialog are absolutely on point for The Terrifics #17. The exposition regarding the weird virtual scenario ramps logically and continues to keep the stakes rising. The dialog is particularly quippy and quick witted, and all of the members of the Terrifics have found a strong voice that textures the story perfectly, which comes across with the villains of the story as well. Yang puts a lot of effort to making sure each character has a particular cadence that alters the way the dialog bubble read (also thanks to Napolitano’s lettering) which is crucial in ensemble series.
Yang and Segovia continue to prove that they were the perfect creative team to revitalizes the Terrifics. This arc contains some of the best content featuring this cast in a minute, and between the wacky antics of virtual plagues and the compelling interpersonal dynamics, it’s a strong comic that continues a strong arc and sets the stage for lots of awesome things to come.
