Okay, okay, okay…fine…I’m in. My first comment when I saw the first trailer was, “wow, Marvel is going to sell a lot of toys off of this.” And I still feel that’s valid, but let’s be honest: Marvel’s last three movies: Captain America (all-around great, but quite serious), Thor 2 (just hammy silliness at times) and Iron Man 3 (depressing as all hell) leave a lot of room for fun. And that’s what Guardians of the Galaxy looks like. A lot of damn fun. I, contrary to popular belief, am not anti-fun, so I’m in.
So what if Zoe Saldana as Gamora is basically green Columbiana or not-blue Natiyri of Avatar? Or as good as Bradley Cooper is, never once did his voice pop in my head when reading Rocket’s dialogue in the comics. This still looks like a damn good time and after watching Tony Stark drag his mark 42 suit through a snowfield, don’t we deserve a good time? Besides, the movie is instantly polarizing depending upon if you’re cool with “Hooked on a Feeling” being stuck in your head or not. Enjoy.
