Netflix in October is Dynamite with New Releases

It’s October ladies and gentlemen. The pumpkin flavored everything is out in full force, Halloween is just around the corner, and we are getting a new batch of movies and shows from Netflix to spend your day binging on. Some old movies are making a showing, but it’s the original content that’s making a strong statement this month.

Black Dynamite

I’ve been dying to see this movie again. Done as a parody of the old Blaxploitation films, ex-CIA agent Black Dynamite (Michael Jai White) vows to clean up the streets after his brother’s death. But as he beats the pimps and drug dealers, he discovers a bigger mystery surrounding his past. Black Dynamite is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in years and definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it before. And if you have, watch it again! It’s funny, it’s clever, and it’s everything you want out of a parody movie.

Blade I & II

Netflix keeping the black hero train rolling by bringing back Blade. One of the first major and serious black superhero movies, Blade (Wesley Snipes) is a half vampire, half human antihero who keeps the streets safe from vampires. The original Blade still holds up today as a great, dark superhero movie, most of the effects are practical and visceral, the story is good, and you take Blade very seriously. Blade II, while not as good as the original, is still a good movie to sit down and watch on a night in. These 2 paired with Black Dynamite and Black Panther make for a great black power binging night.

Big Mouth: Season 2

Big Mouth was a surprise to many on how well it portrayed teenage puberty in a funny and bizarre way. Netflix is bringing it back with its second season continuing to follow the antics of Nick Birch (Nick Kroll) as he navigates middle school and coming of age. Hormone monsters, dysfunctional families, and broken homes are just some of the many issues Nick and his friends must deal with while discovering their own sexuality.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Ten Commandments

And finally for my anime fans out there, The Seven Deadly Sins is coming back for a second season. After the fight with Hendrickson, peace was thought to be returned to the land. But the Seven Deadly Sins have no time to rest, as the Ten Commandments are summoned. This anime was fun and action packed in the first season and season 2 plans to keep up the momentum. If your an anime fan and need some action, this is just the show to watch.
