Power Up! ‘Mega Man: Dual Override’ Trailer Reaction

If someone asked me if Mega Man was a living franchise or a dead one, I’d stare at them blankly. After a silence that borders on awkward, I’d eventually say “. . .yes.” This series is in the extra lives hall of fame, along with Puss in Boots and the villain from Time Crisis. (Image via Capcom) The last original game the series produced (outside of high-production but still maligned mobile game Mega Man X DIVE) was Mega Man 11, which dropped in 2018. To put that into perspective: the last new main series Mega Man predates the movie Avengers: Endgame. Sixteen more MCU films have dropped in that time, and it could be 17 by the release of the latest game in the franchise, Mega Man: Dual Override. Revealed at Gamescom 2026, Dual Override is a man series run-and-gun platformer starring the Blue Bomber and, if promo materials are to be believed, his brother Proto Man. Mega Man: Dual Override follows the critically and commercially acclaimed Mega Man 11, and it seems to fall into the “quality over quantity” mentality that Capcom has taken with the franchise in recent entries. Lately, the developer and publisher has been content to release anthology collections, with an occasional drop of a new game, and focus on its other IPs such as Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, and new IP Pragmata, which has become a hit since its release earlier this year.
