Halloween is a time where you can be anybody and a Nobody (hehe Kingdom Hearts humor, forgive me). It’s the season of upping your creative levels, reveling in the creepy, the crawly, the unsavory, the gorey, and the bloody. You can combine sexy with eye horror, or wholesomeness with knife-wielding tendencies, you name it! It allows one to fully immerse themselves in a version (or versions) of themselves that they’d never dare to indulge in. One creator, I came across embodied this kind of artistic expression. BeatByDime is a MIND-BLOWING artist. Her creations range from classic horror callbacks to more contemporary anime characters, but they are all uniquely HER. I had the honor and pleasure of interviewing Dime this Halloween season, so please enjoy!
Black Nerd Problems: Please tell us about yourself! What’s your origin story and how has your Hero’s Journey been so far? Dime: My name is Dime! I’m a 23yr old Musician, Artist & Creator from New York! I’ve been singing & making music for as long as I can remember, and I started getting into makeup in around 2012 for fun. I started seriously pursuing makeup in 2016, and it slowly just became a passion of mine alongside my music! I feel like my journey is truly just beginning, since I recently quit my full time retail job to pursue a full-time career in art!
