We were introduced to the characters and plot of The Book of Mojo not too long ago when we came across the webcomic. We found a story full of magic, intrigue, and a lot of things that go bump in the night. Tough-as-nails teenage witch “Creepy” uses her wits to survive until she stumbles upon a walking and talking enchanted statue, whom she names Mojo, who is in dire need of help in finding out who or what he is.

A small army of animators with folks who have worked with  companies like DreamWorks to Pixar are now working to bring creator Everett Downing’s original story into an animated 3D short film! Downing has an incredibly diverse team full of women and plenty of people of color on board to bring this vision to fruition. Alas, this project needs one more thing and that’s YOU! There’s currently an Indiegogo campaign to help fund this amazing project and plenty of perks available for people who want to pitch in and help make The Book of Mojo animated.

We want to stay mindful of POC artists and all the many stories they share with the world. If you too desire to see more representation in the media you consume, animation in this particular case, don’t let your opportunity to support slip out of your grasp. The Book Of Mojo has been hailed as an “Urban Fantasy” and has a story featuring unique characters you won’t soon forget.
