Goodness, it was just two years ago when I read and reviewed Tracy Deonn’s stunning debut Legendborn.
When I first read Legendborn, I wrote that it was a resounding, defining example of why I love YA and why I continue to read the genre. As for Bree, our main character, I wrote that she is most certainly a hero that we have been waiting for! I adored her and absolutely saw her as a character to follow as I saw pieces of myself in her.
So much has happened since then: the book went on to win a slew of awards, became an instant New York Times Bestseller and perhaps most notably a winner of the Coretta Scott-King-John Steptoe Award for New Talent. Legendborn is also set to be adapted for television as the rights have been acquired by Black Bear Television with writer Felicia D. Henderson (The Punisher and Gossip Girl writing credits under her belt).
Legendborn was the first book in The Legendborn Cycle, Bloodmarked, the second is now out on bookshelves in stores everywhere.

Tracy Deonn is a writer and second-generation fangirl. She grew up in central North Carolina, where she devoured fantasy books and Southern food in equal measure. After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication and performance studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Tracy worked in live theater, video game production, and K–12 education. When she’s not writing, Tracy speaks on panels at science fiction and fantasy conventions, reads fanfic, arranges puppy playdates, and keeps an eye out for ginger-flavored everything. See more of her on her personal website, on Twitter, and Instagram!
