In GTA, I have felonies and disposable income. And respectfully, I am about to commit so many felonies.
Image via Rockstar Games There are certain fantasies that video games allow us to indulge in that simply aren’t available to the average working adult. Saving the universe. Fighting gods. Becoming a legendary warrior. Having magical powers. And then there’s Grand Theft Auto, which offers perhaps the most unrealistic fantasy of them all: having enough money to pay all your bills. Listen, I work in corporate America. I have responsibilities, or as Tommy Pickles would say, “‘Sponsibileries”. I have meetings that could have been emails and emails that somehow become meetings. I have spent portions of my actual life staring at Outlook calendars trying to figure out why four grown adults need 45 minutes to discuss something that could have been resolved with “sounds good.” I have Outlook meetings and health insurance in real life. In GTA, I have felonies and disposable income. And respectfully, I am going to commit so many felonies. This is what we call a work-life balance So when you sit me down for nearly 30 minutes of Grand Theft Auto VI preview and tell me that instead of answering Teams messages, I can steal a car, move some drugs, make several thousand dollars, run from the police, somehow successfully escape them, and then use my ill-gotten gains to buy things without first checking my bank account, you have my attention.
