Black Panther: Wakanda Dreams and Killmonger Realities [Proofed]

In one film, Ryan Coogler was able to tell the story of what black people dream about: a place where slavery is not at the crux of your existence and oppression is not your home, while simultaneously reach to the depths of your present day existence as a Black American. He brings to life the dream of Wakanda, a character of it’s own and Killmonger the story of a diaspora that knows the truth about their lineage. What happens when our fantasy world is introduced to our reality? Aisha: We learn how to think beyond the limits of our reality in this film Frantz: We reaffirm how far away from our dream we really are at the same time Aisha: So Malcolm and Martin it? Take a dream by force cuz we deserve it, or learn how to bring our dreams to reality… Frantz: Those aren’t different. Aisha: WAKANDA IS THE DREAM! After seeing Black Panther, it feels like we are all reeling off the synergy – the pure positive black joy – that flowed from within our collective compassion and innate nature to come together. We dressed up and danced, we let out the kings and queens the princesses and the royals that we are. Because oppressions try to keep it locked away. Not today, not on Black Panther weekend, no. If you don’t know now you know – fo sho! So why did we do this? Why did we get our flyest kente cloth and assemble the black avengers to movie night?
