Doctor Strange is Marvel’s Most Psychedelic Effort Yet

Doctor Strange was a movie that I had ambitious hopes of seeing but it never really moved me an inch off the metaphorical fence. I would love to see it… because Marvel. But I’m not a Marvel head and don’t think their B-squad heroes are that impressive to begin with, but I’m an open minded man, a man of the people. This man, whom some would call a Black nerd, went into this Doctor Strange IMAX 3D Exclusive Look with no hype or ill will towards the movie and walked his Black ass out of that theater like he was stepping back into a realm left behind 30 mins ago. It was that trippy.

Now lemme start this off by saying that these dirty scoundrels had us up in the theater with the heat blasting at Drogon dracarys levels with temperatures on Human Torch°. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit but a brother could’ve mistaken that theater for the oven that witch was preheating for Hansel and Gretel. Now this Doctor Strange joint, it was pretty weak on action fam, but heavy on the adventure and visuals. I’m talking bout, these filmmakers gave Guardians of the Galaxy the red Matrix pill, stuck it inside Walt Disney’s world of Fantasia and jumped into a Mickey Mouse Inception dream, which was Doctor Strange.

And it was so visually dope, son! The mind warped building bending was breathtaking insanity. The astrological trip through an intergalactic wormhole made Flash’s trips through the Speed Force look like a 6 grader on a Six Flags water slide. These colors, these landscapes, these visuals right hereeee?! This the type of movie that make you wanna take a trip to Burning Man.

I’m certainly more intrigued after witnessing a few scenes be a bit more flushed out, but will it be enough? There are a few hurdles that are stacked up against Doctor Strange already. The problem of him not being what you would call a popular Marvel character.. and the blatant, puzzling whitewashing they got goin on make it a harder sell than almost every other Marvel movie to date. One thing Doctor Strange will have going for it is the slew of moviegoers who head out to the theater every weekend looking for a visual treat, and that is where this movie will really shine.
