Convergence: Blue Beetle #2 Review

Writer: Scott Lobdell / Art: Yishan Li / DC Comics

We finally got the return of the Blue Beetle as well as the Hub City All Stars, The Question and Captain Atom. We know that these street level heroes (sans Atom) will have to face off against opponents from another world in order for their own to survive. It really is the shitty luck of the draw when your opponents happen to be the Legion of Super Heroes.

Loobdell does a great job story wise in having all the characters of Hub City display their strengths against the armada. Captain Atom is able to face the teens head on, The Question has a rather obtuse approach and Ted Kord is busy coming up with an end game. Li does another good job in the style of the art in order to give this issue an older look and feel. Li makes Hub city feel huge as we see the fight take place through different portions of it as well as the damage done to it.

It was great to see the genius Ted Kord back at it again but with the coming of the end of Convergence it’s now a question of when we will see him as well as these other characters again and to what capacity will that be. We got our conclusion but we’re still in need of answers for new questions thanks to this issue.
