The latest Marvel cinematic outing, Guardians of the Galaxy, has released at least two trailers that haven’t been quite as telling as most teasers would be where a villain is concerned. Although we know from press releases (and Wikipedia) that Lee Pace will be the primary villain, Ronan the Accuser, with Thanos making some kind of appearance, it has been discovered this week that Josh Brolin will be voicing the Mad Titan himself.
Thanos is reportedly the Big Bad making things happen from the shadows. His appearance in the post-credits scene of The Avengers (possibly the greatest case of nerd-wank EVER) was the initial setup for later cameos in “Guardians”, debuting August 1, 2014, and Avengers: Age of Ultron, which the Gangster Squad star will also be showing up in as the death-courting baddie. With the easter egg scenes at the end of Thor: the Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, speculation is at an all time high that Thanos’ quest to obtain the Infinity Gauntlet will be the primary focus of the third installment of the Avengers series. This far, all we have to go off of is Guardians director, James Gunn’s particularly telling declaration, “We’re definitely tied to Avengers 3.”
Brolin will also be starring in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, premiering August 22, 2014.
