Marvel’s latest Black Panther run, being handled by Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreeze, is an event of global proportion. But with T’Challa’s newfound fame and exposure come a lot of questions from his newer fans. Luckily, Marvel’s started the “Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet” video series to tell readers all they need to know about Coates’ series and the character.
In their second installment, we get more commentary from Coates on the challenge of writing about T’Challa’s constant struggle to protect his people – which he couldn’t possibly always do – and treating the unconquered nation of Wakanda as its own character for the sake of necessary context.
The video also samples a new track from Prodigy of Mobb Deep called “Beast With It,” featuring Mark the Beast.
“I am honored to be a part of another cool project from Marvel Comics and this new video series is going to be a smash,” states Prodigy of Mobb Deep. “Black Panther has always been one of my favorite Marvel characters and the new series is destined to become a huge hit — Ta-Nehisi Coates really did his thing with this one!”
Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso touches on the intersection of comic books and hip-hop as two different mediums. “Comics and music are two art forms that continually speak to one another, and with Ta-Nehisi and Brian Stelfreeze’s epic series flying off the shelves, we are doing just that,” says Alonso. “It’s our honor to partner with the legendary Prodigy for this latest installment.”
