This is the Issue I been waiting for. We’ve seen Nova Sam Alexander interacting with The watcher on multiple occasions, we’ve seen them relate about their fathers with each other in an extraordinary issue, and not only that but The Watcher broke his bro code and told Sam that his father is alive. The Watcher has recently been murdered, which is unknown to Sam yet. This is going to be Sam’s first experience dealing with losing a friend. Duggan has a great intro with Sam’s Mom honoring the dead Novas (Dia De Los Muertos ceremonial style) by building a shrine in tribute and honor of the fallen.

Duggan has same discover the watcher’s body, we see the shock of the reaction and Sam flying off to find help. He winds up in New York just in time for the (Watcher’s) eye bomb. I was expecting Sam to be more melancholy but he making jokes per usual and even arrives making one as he helps DareDevil and Spider-Man. He then gets a feeling of helplessness in not being able to apprehend the believed “murderer”. There wasn’t much focus on that loss from Sam, as he is known dealing with the discovered secret about his father’s time in the Nova Corps. We’ve entered the Nova No more arc it seems now.

(Side-note: he takes off his helmet after the eye bomb goes off in front of Iron Man, I was expecting Stark to tell him to take better care of his secret I.D. but he walked off like “Welp, I’ma let you deal with that”. That took me out of the moment entirely). The issue was still good, I’m just a bit disappointed in the execution of how Sam handled everything.
