Writers: Jeff Loveness, Ramon Perez / Artist: Ramon Perez / Marvel Comics

This is how you go out on a high note. This is how you character develop right here. Loveness and Perez stuck a solid landing for Nova (as we know it is now cancelled) however, this arc serves the purpose of bringing back Richard Rider and giving Sam another Nova corpsman to play off of (bring that boy’s father back already y’all).

We see Sam jump in after Rich Rider throws himself into the Cancerverse. Sam won’t let his fellow Nova get buried a g again. What ensues is a fight between Sam and Rich that serves as a huge highlight for this series as well as the plight of World Mind, which is truly heartbreaking in its own right.

Perez does the damn thing in this issue showing the tenacity of Sam Alexander when he grits down as well as giving him battle damage to show how severe the situation is. Perez visualizes the story excellently from start to finish. The humor of the series between Rich and Sam is such a great mechanic of this series that establishes the nature of the relationship and the bonding they’ll continue doing.

I’m sad to see this series go yo. It was just getting good and your boy was rocking with it. These seven issues serve as a great add-on story for the return of the g.o.a.t. Nova and the legacy that’s been keeping up the good work during their leave.

9.6 goodbyes out of 10
