BNP At Home Recommends: ‘Superman: Red Son’

Writer: Mark Millar / Artist: Dave Johnson / DC Comics

With Coronavirus keeping us indoors, never have I adored my DC Universe subscription more than now. With the Superman: Red Son animated movie out I realized I had never read the comics. Thanks, DC Universe! I can’t speak on the movie yet, but I did get a chance to read the comic. If you need an hour or so of escape to an exciting, alternate past I can’t recommend Red Son enough. Mark Millar’s masterpiece answers the question, “What if Superman’s ship crash-landed in Soviet Ukraine instead of Smallville, Kansas?”. It’s a 3-issue mini-series that explores a timeline where Superman leads to the Soviet Union’s dominance of the Cold War. The best part, though, is being able to see altered versions of Superman, Batman and the like portrayed without betraying their core spirit. Treat yourself to this gem and stay safe folks.
