‘Empyre Magazine’ Review Reveals What’s on the Comic Horizon

Ok, so I’m trying to make sense of this Empyre Magazine as much as you are. It’s most certainly a preview to the Empyre event that is kicking off this July, but it’s also a Kree/Skrull War roadmap that takes you back to the millenia old intergallactic conflict, gives insight into the Celestial Messiah story and brings readers up to date on the Raksor and Bel-Dann beef before detailing Hulkling’s ascension to the Kree and Skrull throne. On top of all that, there are previews galore and they sure are pretty!

Empyre Avengers

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes all come together in Wakanda to begin preparations for the expected repercussions of the Kree/Skrull alliance that still doesn’t seem real to our heroes. We see Vision and Luke Cage taking in unknown destruction on the west side of Central Park in the Empyre Avengers #0 preview. Don’t forget to check that out to find out how the squad will be handling this mounting situation.

Captain Marvel & X of Swords

The Captain Marvel and X of Swords previews look like absolute fire. The panels we’re blessed with from Captain Marvel #18 shows Carol shining in her emerald Kree gear as she saves a Kree/Skrull ship from certain doom. All of this happens right before she flies off and one of the saved individuals calls her THE ACCUSER. Can’t wait to see what that’s all about! Don’t get me started on the X of Swords preview. It’s a whole one image, but BOY IS IT A DOOZY. Did you see Cyclops and his optic blast sword?!?! Storm with the lightning blade and Bobby with straight up Ice from Game of Thrones?! Hickman is. The Fantastic Four Empyre issue preview cover looks dope and you know they’re going to bring the noise in that cosmic-centric book.

Emperor Hulkling, First of His Name

I haven’t been keeping up with Hulkling’s story, but the comics coming up on the horizon are definitely compelling me to dive into his origin story and get caught up proper. Be on the lookout for all of these Empyre titles (while keeping in mind, many of them have been cut because of COVID) when they flood the internet comicbook streets in the next few months.
