Our Favorite Escapee has returned – Prison Break: Resurrection

Season 5/Fox

Almost a decade has passed since the last episode of Prison Break when Michael Scofield played by my husband…I mean actor Wentworth Miller tragically sacrificed himself. This ended the season leaving us all empty and sad that this show had came to an end. However, this didn’t end Wentworth and Dominic’s partnership. This dynamic duo acted as Captain Cold and Heatwave in The Flash, and later in Legends of Tomorrow. Prison Break was one of the most intense shows on TV. Let’s get into a quick recap to refresh our memories about this masterpiece.

Prison Break is about a man named Michael Scofield who is on a mission to break his brother out of prison. His brother, Lincoln Burrows, was framed for the murder of the vice president’s brother. He is put on death row and is scheduled for execution within the month. In order for Michael to save his brother, he robs a bank and gets sentenced to the same prison his brother was being held in. What a huge coincidence!

Throughout his stay, he makes different connections with some of the inmates to aid him in his escape. Unfortunately, some of these characters make the escape process a bit difficult. Oh, did I mention he had the blueprints of the prison tattooed on his body?!

This was a complex and intense show. I was fascinated the entire time and thought there were a great amount of plot twists. There was a character for everyone. No one was quite like the other, which definitely added to the beauty of this show. Michael Scofield was by far my favorite. He always tired to help others and always stayed true to his character. This show is an excellent presentation in morality, and good & evil. Every character is never all “good” or all “bad.” There’s a moment when we even pitied Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell, who was a convicted sex offender.

Then we get to the final season. The season where everything came together. Questions were answered. Relationships were fixed. Everything starts to slow down. We take a deep breath and start to feel mixed feelings. On one hand, we feel relieved that it’s over. On the other hand, there’s now an empty space in our heart. Mostly because our dear Scofield is gone……Or is he?
When we thought this gem was gone forever, we were blessed with this:

Starting on April 4th, Prison Break will be back on the air. The adventures of Lincoln and his dead-but-not-really-dead brother Michael are back! When the trailer dropped, I could not believe my eyes. I was like “Nah….This can’t be real!” The trailer reveals how this 10-episode season will unfold. After that, it’s a wrap! Lincoln gets on a never ending quest to find his brother. We see some of the OG characters like Benjamin “C-Note” Franklin, and Fernando Sucre. The new Prison Break will deliver everything the fans want. I am definitely excited about this new season. This is not a reboot, but a rebirth!

Prison Break: Resurrection airs on April 4, 2017.
