Okay, I am SO HYPED UP to be writing about this cosplayer! Deezumaki has got the BEST Demon Slayer cosplays. Just, freaking awesome. Their Tanjiro and Nezuko cosplays are vibrant and sooooo pretty that when they popped up on my news feed, they definitely made my day a thousand times better! I was lucky enough to be granted an interview with them, so please do enjoy! BNP: Please tell us about yourself! What’s your origin story and how has your Hero’s Journey been so far?
Dee: Well, my name is Dee. I’m a 19-year-old nonbinary (soon to be 20!), content creator, cosplayer, and voice actor. I’ve always had a love for anime and cartoons since I was a kid. My dad used to watch DBZ and Sailor Moon religiously. I first got into cosplay when I was around 14 and got to actually dress up as my favorite anime character at the time [Undertaker from Black Butler] with a few friends during Halloween. At that time I didn’t have a lot of friends who were as interested in cosplaying, so that year was really fun for me personally. And after that, my love for dressing up as fictional characters kinda skyrocketed. I got to meet a lot of fellow Black cosplayers along the way which REALLY made my experience in all the areas where I make content a lot more tolerable. Cause the cosplay community and many other communities such as gaming, streaming, and even VA can be rather uninviting to POC.
