Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #11 Review

Writer:Brian Michael Bendis / Artist:David Marquez / Marvel

We open up the scene back on the beat with the spider thieves breaking into a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility to steal some items. First of all, cats stay knowing which S.H.I.E.L.D. warehouse to hit up for the best shit like it’s a Nobody Beats The Wiz (Best Buy for the Millennials reading). Jessica Drew The Spider-Gawdess drops in to foil these dudes that been running amok around town.

Drew was schooling ’em until they started double’ing up the defense. She was fast but not fast enough as she gets taken out and the thieves then consult with their boss on how best to handle her. Meanwhile, ya boy Miles Morales can not catch a fucking break, man. He just closed the door dealing with father shit, now he gotta deal with relationship shit, world shit, Hydra shit, Jesssssuuus. Come to find out Kate Bishop told her sister who then told her father who happens to be a Hydra fearing man that pays them tithes and attends their get-togetherness. Kate trying to talk to Miles on some, “Hey Hydra gets a bad rep in the media but we ain’t that bad” sit down shit.

GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT MESS. Miles runs for the door just to see her pops got Mile’s friends and family on the summer jam screen waiting to be killed if he don’t comply. Now everybody and they mama in Hydra know Miles is Spider-Man and to make matters worse the guest of honor shows up and let’s just say he’s a dude that’s probably getting royalty checks from MF Doom. This issue was a fast read but fucking good. The final issue is right around the corner and we got maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad shit on the table man.

I feel like Miles is making a lot of the mistakes with his secret identity that Parker did ’cause way too many people know about it now. I’m wondering if that’s an angle Bendis is working but regardless this was a good issue. Marquez is incredible on the art and expressions. Every scene is detailed and the quick fight scene we got looked straight out of a Donnie Yen movie fight choreography scene. It’s a roller coaster ride to the finish folks, it’s going to be interesting how Bendis intends to wrap up this installment of Miles’ life before the big Secret War turn.
