The ‘Soul Calibur VI’ E3 Trailer Debuted and I Want Next On the Stix

Press the start button if you ready for that smoke

It’s that time of the year again. E3. Those magical days when we’re inundated with the best of the best of the best of what’s coming in video games. Black Nerd Problems is right there to give you the tea on what you need to be ready to pre-order and what you shouldn’t and today we have some major (IMO) news.

Soul Calibur VI is coming!

I know what y’all are thinking. Is she really talking about Soul Calibur games AGAIN?

Yes. Yes the fuck I am talking about the greatest fighting game franchise of all time and you will DEAL.

Soul Calibur IV

It’s been six long years since we got Soul Calibur V and all of 2018, Bandai Namco has been teasing us with Soul Calibur VI tidbits. Those of us from the Kingdom Hearts trenches know teasers don’t mean diddly squat until a release date is dropped (coincidentally that also had an E3 presentation so hold on to your wishes & prayers).

But Soul Calibur VI finally got a date so come October 19, 2018 and IT’S OVAH FOR YOU HOES! Get ready to whup ass and take names while you try to get your hands on the Soul Edge. However, if you’re anything like me, just beat the breaks off all your friends because that’s the best part. With a scheduled release on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC the ass-whuppin possibilities are endless. Praise.

Take It Back to the Old School

Round VI is set to revisit the first Soulcalibur game to give us a new look at an old story. That’s all fine and good, but what that really means is we get the original roster in infinitely better renders. While I’m sad I won’t get to play my personal faves Talim – the badass with tha twin tonfa or Tira – numba one stunna with the hula hoop, the other old faithfuls are back. Ivy, Maxi, Xianghua, Taki, Yoshimitsu and Mitsurugi are all ready to lay the smackdown. Oh, and of course my favorite character with the most disrespectful long-range bo staff moves, Kilik, is here and ready to heap shame on you, your cow, and your whole family.

Game On, Ring Out

Soul Calibur IV

Bandai Namco is throwing in some new game mechanics with this one. Now, I’ve already praised Soul Calibur’s playability. Like a lot. It’s honestly the smoothest fighter I’ve ever experienced even playing it across multiple consoles (because I’m an equal opportunity ass-whupper, even on Gamecube). So I’m excited to see what they’re bringing us with the latest edition. Official docs boast a way to read your opponents moves to potentially break or reverse their attack. Look, these defensive moves have always been part of what makes Soul Calibur THE GAME for me. That, the solid and varied female fighters, the taunting, and the 8-way running. It’s all what makes me that chick who runs through opponents like a freight train and never gives up the sticks.

Like I said: October 19th. Ovah for you hoes.
