There’s a new Lando Calrissian book coming for middle grade readers!
October 2, Lando’s Luck, written by Justina Ireland with illustrations by Annie Wu, will be released by Disney Books.
Written by Justina Ireland, the fantastic story teller behind Dread Nation, Lando’s Luck features Lando and L3-37 on a smuggling run designed to save their skins. But of course that run hits obstacle after obstacle, entangling the pilot and co-pilot in planetary politics and Imperial demands. L3, the sarcastic droid-rights activist and freedom fighter, is the perfect foil for Lando’s scoundrel-with-a-heart-of-gold personality. Together they’ll have to decide to do right — for themselves? The galaxy far far away? Both? Can we have both?
Lando’s Luck is the first in a new series, called Flight of the Falcon, which will span young adult novels and comic books, with the Millennium Falcon as the unifying thread. Other titles will include A Luke and Leia Adventure, written by Cavan Scott with art by Elsa Charretier, and a Han and Chewie story, featuring — OH YEAH — Hondo Ohnaka from Clone Wars.
Maybe the Solo movie wasn’t all you wanted it to be. But we can agree on two things:
- The Han Solo book that came out at the same time, Last Shot: A Han and Lando Novel, was a solid contribution to the Star Wars canon.
- Lando Calrissian continues to be one of the most interesting and fun characters in the Star Wars canon, be that in movies or in print.
With that in mind, I’m looking forward to, Lando’s Luck, available in print and digital on October 2 everywhere you buy books.
